I am interested in tattoing. What do I need to make it?
I consider myself a fantastic (realistic) artist. I believe I have the talent to become a excellent tattoo or airbrush artist. I know that there is always more to learn and I am willing to do so but before I enter into any tattoo shop & question for an apprenticeship are there any books, videos ect. that would help me learn or become more familiar in the tattoo/airbrush industry to be more prepare?
what kind of art that displays color would be best for a tattoo portfolio?
i’m working on my art portfolio to become a tattoo artist and i know it would be excellent to include color scheme so they know i can work well with color also.
i’ve never really used anything besides crayons or colored pencils (despise them) i just draw and when i was a kid and tried to add color with crayons or something it seemed like it would ruin the whole drawing.
what kind would look really excellent for a tattoo portfolio for an apprenticeship? like water colors, paint, airbrush and so on?
i want to be able to really wow the artist apprenticing me. all advise is welcome
also, here is a drawing that i made not long ago (so you can have a rough thought of what i do), it’s from a reference but it is NOT traced (my scanner kinda took away some of the quality though)

Is Air Brushing related to Tattooing? also a tattoo apprentice question?
I’ve noticed in alot of the tattooing reality shows the artists also air brush. I was just wondering if the two are similar, and if air brushing helps train you for tattooing?
The reason I am asking is because I am an avid artists, specifically illustration. For a long time now I’ve thought that tattooing would be a dream job. I was just wondering if air brushing would help prepare me for a tattoo gun?
also for anyone that may know, to become a tattoo apprentice do you reckon its nearly mandatory that the person has visible tattoos? I want to someday atleast look and because i have to pay bills the work i apply to dont like employees having visible tattoos, so I’ve place off getting any tattoos that would be visible. Would I be turned down immediately from an appearance that lacks of tattoos?

*****EDIT: I do have tattoos, my back has a large tattoo that connects to my lower back tat. I also have one on my rib and on my leg. but they are not obviously visible. If i did have an apprenticeship i would feel more secure about my future and free about getting more visible tattoos
